PET TRAVEL INFORMATION FOR DOGS TO SINGAPORE

There is currently no quarantine for pet dogs entering Singapore from the UK as long as all the paperwork is completed correctly and the dogs are clinically healthy on entry.

Information/requirements for the Export of Pet Dogs from England, Wales and Scotland only to Singapore.

It is a requirement that pet dogs travel as manifest cargo and not as excess baggage.

Pet Dogs must travel in IATA approved transit kennels that allow the animal to stand up without touching the top of the box, lie down and turn around.

There are restrictions on certain breeds of dog entering Singapore. Banned Dog Breeds Under the Animals and Birds Rules, are not permitted to be kept as pets in Singapore, hence no import of such breeds is allowed.

Categories of dogs not permited to be imported into Singapore (often referred as Schedule I Breeds):

1.Pit Bull (including American Pit Bull Terrier also known as American Pit Bull and Pit Bull Terrier)

2.American Staffordshire Terrier

3.Staffordshire Bull Terrier

4.American Bull Dog

5.Neapolitan Mastiff

6.Tosa

7.Akita

8.Dogo Argentino

9.Boerboel

10.Fila Brasileiro

11.Crosses between all of the above and with all other breeds.

Below is a list of dogs that can be imported but must be fitted with muzzle when out in public place (Schedule II Breeds). Dog owners that fail to comply with this requirement will be liable on conviction to a fine of up to S$5,000.

1.Bull Mastiff

2.Bull Terrier

3.Doberman

4.German Shepherd with its related breeds such as Belgian Shepherd and East European Shepherd

5.Rottweiler

6.Perro De Presa Canario.


Pet relocation from the UK to Singapore requires the following paperwork:

a) An Import Permit obtained from Singapore (within 30 days of import). You can do an on-line application from this site Singapore Import Permit application .

Payment of SGD 50.00 (Fifty Singapore Dollars) must be sent with the application.

Alternatively you can engage the services of an animal import organisation (please see notes from DEFRA)

b) An Official Export Health Certificate, which must be applied for from DEFRA. This must be completed and certified by your LVI within 48 hours of the flight.

Full set of requirements must be obtained from Carlisle DEFRA Animal Health Divisional Office – 01228 403600 (option 2)

Please request from DEFRA a Specimen copy of the Health Certificate as the things that have to be done become somewhat clearer than just referring to the notes.

c) A written declaration stating that the animal has not been imported into Great Britain during the last six months.


Worming treatment is needed within 96 hours of the flight and tick treatment is needed between 10 days and 2 days before the flight

Pet dogs over 16 weeks old must be vaccinated at least 14 days prior to the flight against distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus (Pet dogs over 12 weeks and under 16 weeks have additional requirements. They must be vaccinated twice and Vaccinations must be at least 4 weeks apart and the second vaccination must be at least 14 days prior to date of export).

Owners should check the Import Permit carefully for any additional requirements.
