WE CAN ONLY EXPORT CATS AND DOGS FROM MAINLAND ENGLAND, WALES AND SCOTLAND. WE CANNOT EXPORT PETS DIRECTLY FROM NORTHERN IRELAND, IRELAND, ISLE OF MAN OR THE CHANNEL ISLANDS.
International pet travel sometimes seems like a minefield of legislation, veterinary requirements and logistics. We aim to provide you with all the necessary advice and information in order to make this seemingly complicated process as simple and as stress free as possible.
Animals have been transported by air since the early 1930's. In today's modern world, it is an established fact that carriage of live animals by air is the most humane, expedient and cost effective method of transportation over both short and long distances. We at Aeropets specialise in the transportation of cats and dogs to most parts of the world.
We aim to deliver the best possible service at a competitive rate because we understand that your pet is an important member of the family.
Our pet relocation team can advise you on every aspect of your pet's move including the necessary veterinary requirements before their departure. We offer a range of different logistic solutions, which are carefully tailored around the needs of your pet and your own individual circumstances.
Most direct long haul international flights that are able to carry live animals depart from London Heathrow or London Gatwick. Other long haul departure airports are Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow however there is a strong possibility that they will have to be routed via Heathrow.
Direct flights to summer and winter holiday destinations can sometimes be arranged from smaller regional airports such as Luton, Birmingham, East Midlands, Cardiff etc.
1.Your cat or dog must be shipped in an IATA approved Air Pet Travel Kennel of the correct size. We provide the pet travel kennel as standard part of the service. If however your pet has his or her own transit kennel then you may be able to use it. Please enquire prior to booking the flight with us.
We will require the dog's breed and measurements. Please select measuring button above or click here how to measure your dog to be linked directly into relevant page for more info.
In the case of cats we only require the weight unless the cat is taller than 15 Inches/37 cm in a sitting position to the top of the ears.
If you wish to use your own transit kennel you will also need to provide the following information-
External length, width, height, and weight of the kennel you intend to use. Please note these are the external measurements of the transit kennel but we often ask for the internal measurements as well. In the case of Plastic transit kennels we will need to know the make and model (Eg Varikennel 500P).
2.You must ensure that you have an Import Permit from the country of destination should it be required. Please see destinations page for more information on country requirements.
3.You must ensure that your pet complies with the relevant vaccination and veterinary requirements of the country of destination.
4.You must ensure that you have the relevant Export Health Certificate from DEFRA or Fitness to Fly certificate should it be needed. Please contact DEFRA at Carlisle on 01228 403 600 Option 2.
5.You must ensure that you have reserved cargo space for the relevant airline well in advance with us and that this date ties in with all the other documentation especially in the case of Australia , New Zealand and South Africa .
We are only a phone call away and are always more than happy to assist you with completing the DEFRA Application Form (see also DEFRA Guidance Notes ). We may also be able to help with Import Permit applications.
Our prices will include the freight cost of the Flight, Airline export handling fees, The IATA approved transit kennel, U.K. customs export entry, transit fees and Veterinary sealing where applicable.
* Collection of your pet(s) from your home address or kennel/cattery
* Boarding your pet(s) prior to the flight if required.
* Obtaining the export documentation and arrange veterinary inspection if required.
* Applying for the DEFRA Export Health Certificate on your behalf.
The more we do the more expensive the overall service becomes.
If you require assistance completing the DEFRA application form or applying for an Import Permit we are only a phone call away and are happy to help over the phone at no extra charge.
Please bear the following in mind.
Arranging the necessary paperwork, complying with any age restrictions and veterinary requirements, booking space with the Airline and building the pet travel kennel(s) all take time. It is recommended that as much notice is given with a minimum of 5 weeks notice for many destinations. Bookings can sometimes be arranged in a shorter time frame (for example Canada and some European destinations) but it does depend on where you are going.
